Nets’ Star Kyrie Irving Keeps Breaking Records and Creating Headlines

Massive 60-pointer scored against Magic

This month saw the Brooklyn Nets player Kyrie Irving topping 50 points two times in a week and he set a franchise record 60 points as they destroyed Orlando Magic 150-108. While Irving may have frequently hit the headlines due to his anti-vaccination opinions, it was good to see him getting some attention on the basketball court.

Nets’ Star Kyrie Irving Keeps Breaking Records

Not only is Irving in the form of his life, but other key players in the Nets line-up are also peaking at the right time. After all, Irving’s scoring record was all the more notable as it came just two nights after Kevin Durant posted a not unimpressive 53 points. This made Irving and Durant the first pair of NBA team players to have scored 50 points in consecutive games.

The pair have delivered a few more cool stats as they became just the second to get multiple 50-point games in a season. The last time that any other basketball pairing did this was way back in the 1961-62 season when Jerry West and Elgin Baylor ran riot for the LA Lakers.

The game against Magic also set a few more records for the high-flying Nets team. Not only did it become the highest-scoring regulation game in the team’s history, but the fact that the Nets scored 86 points in the first half made it their highest scoring half ever. The first quarter was particularly impressive with a record 48 points scored as the Nets ran riot over the Magic.

While it was a dazzling team performance from the Nets, there was no denying that Irving was at the heart of it. With a 64.5% shooting average, a 75% 3-point rate and 12-for-13 from the foul line, the game was a clear career highlight for the 30-year old.

Irving makes his return to Brooklyn

Of course, all of this has been eclipsed by the fact that Irving has finally managed to make a home return for the Nets after New York City reversed its ban on unvaccinated players. While Irving’s form may have shortened the Nets’ odds at most New York sportsbooks, it wasn’t enough to beat the Charlotte Hornets who won the game 119-110.

Irving managed to score 16 points with two rebounds and 11 assists in the game, but with big games coming up against the Pistons and Bucks, many Nets fans will be firing up their betting apps for the star to come good again.
